It was standing room only on the upper level of Joliet’s premier LGBTQ nightclub Maneuvers March 31 as the area’s most talented performers and artists including Dymond Calloway, Sasha Love, Raven Samore, Aleyna Couture and DJ Ebony Delite donated their considerable talents towards a fundraiser for The Intersections—Will County’s only resource for LGBTQ news, entertainment and community engagement.

Organized in partnership with Maneuvers, manager Ritch Fisher and owner Fred Schramm, the diverse crowd not only enjoyed an evening that had as many laughs as it did demonstrations of pure artistry but were able to contribute to a resource which has filled a badly-needed gap.

“There was a sense of family,” CAAN Midwest President Gini Lester said. “The performers gave of their time and talent and expected nothing in return. They just knew that it was a good cause.”

Meanwhile, one-of-a-kind donations from local businesses such as Sue Regis Glass Art made for a competitive raffle.

Those who could not make it to the fundraiser can still donate to The Intersections by clicking here and are encouraged to visit the organization’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

“Where else are you going to reach the North Central Illinois LGBT community?” Lester said. “This is a noncorporate entity and so building that community day-by-day is our entire focus.”
